open terminal and run sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoclean sudo apt-get autoremove sudo synaptic settings > preferences > files > tick 'delete downloaded package after installation' run (or install) bleachbit in bleachbit; select all and DELETE do this both as root and as user
